Biological Compliance Support
Sunset is providing biological compliance support for a residential mixed-use redevelopment project in Mill Valley, working alongside the client’s civil engineer, landscape architect, arborist, and general contractor to ensure all environmental and biological project authorizations required by the certified EIR are properly fulfilled. Sunset’s scope includes protocol-level special-status plant surveys, invasive plant surveys, preconstruction nesting bird and raptor surveys, and bat roost assessments ahead of demolition, grading, or vegetation clearing. Sunset also developed and conducted a Worker Environmental Awareness Program (WEAP) to train construction personnel on special-status species and invasive species protocols, and is managing ongoing biological compliance reporting and agency coordination throughout construction to help the project team avoid schedule delays tied to biological resource requirements. As part of this project, Sunset was able to provide a third-party review of the CEQA biological mitigation measures and reduce the CEQA requirements. This role reflects Sunset’s ability to efficiently serve as an embedded biological consultant supporting a large private redevelopment project through its full construction compliance lifecycle.
